Ash honored once again

Yet another title for Miss World and Bachchan Bahu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Beating her Hollywood counterparts, Ash has grabbed the title of the woman with the sexiest eyes and yes, no one can question that. American television channel E!’s Sexiest Body Parts list crowns Ash as the woman with the sexiest eyes leaving behind Hollywood icons like Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox and Scarlett Johansson. Meanwhile, Irish actor Jonathan Rhys-Myers (of Bend It Like Beckham fame) won best male eyes award.

Other winners includes Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen who won the sexiest legs award, Charlize Theron bags E!’s decolletage award with her sultry shoulders, Eva Mendes voted lovely locks, Taiwanese actress Shu Qi took away sexiest lips title. Scarlett Johansson has been voted the female celebrity with the best breasts. Actress Jessica Biels butt has topped the list of E!’s sexiest bottom and the list goes on.

So, this is another proof to the fact that Aishwarya’s blue eyes have mesmerized not only Bollywood but also Hollywood!

Ash welcomed by the hyderabadi's

In town to inaugurate the exclusive watch store, Celebrations, at a city mall in Banjara Hills, the actor had fans waiting for her in eager anticipation.

The barricades and extra security could not dampen the spirit of fans who came in hordes to check out their favourite actor.

Clad in a trendy black pant suit, the Bachchan bahu had everyone spellbound with her radiant beauty as she made her way to inaugurate the store. Once there, she interacted with guests present and posed for pictures with them.

But she did not make an exit until she posed for pictures and waved to fans who had been standing there for hours only for a glimpse of Ash.

Ash's wax statue

Bollywood superstar and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai yesterday became the first Indian celebrity to have her wax model displayed at Madame Tussauds Museum in historic Time Square here.

Within minutes of unveiling of her life-like model dressed in intricately patterned red Sari, her fans in New York began flocking the museum to admire the waxwork.

The unveiling of the model, borrowed by the New York Madame Tussauds from its parent museum in London, coincided with the India’s 60th Independence Day celebration and will be on display for six weeks before being sent back.

But several of her fans, who had gathered at the museum, said the six weeks were too short a period for all fans from New York City and neighboring states to see their favorite star in wax.

A group of dancers, dressed in ‘lahengas’ and matching blouses, gave a scintillating performance during the 15 minute unveiling ceremony. The dances portrayed several of her popular songs.

In the museum, Rai is in the company of several other celebrities including Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

Besides Rai, the only Indian film personalities immortalised at Madame Tussauds in London are her father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan, super star Shah Rukh Khan and Tamil superstar Rajnikanth. Other Indian attractions at the museum are Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.

But Rai became the first Indian celebrity to be displayed in New York. Rai’s waxwork was unveiled in London in 2004, timed with the release of her first international film, “Bride and Prejudice”, directed by London-based Gurinder Chadha. She was present during the unveiling in London.

Director of Marketing of the New York Museum Rosemary Preta said the coming of Rai’s waxwork to New York fulfills the long standing demand of her fans.

Set up by Frenchwoman Marie Tussauds in London in 1835, the world famous museum now has branches in Amsterdam, Las Vegas, Hong Kong and Shanghai, besides New York, with Washington DC to be added to the list in October 2007.

Padma shiri awarded to ash

Looks like the lady who is known to be the most beautiful women in the world is being recognized for more than just her hotness! Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was recently awarded the highest civilian honor, the Padma Shri award for her contribution to the arts. Aishwariya Rai Bachchan received this honor on the Republic Day of India. Go Ash! With Aishwarya Rai Bachchan receiving the award, it brings the number up to five Padma Shris won by the Bachchan family. The first one was won by Amitabh Bachchan's father the late Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Of course Amitabh Bachchan himself won the Padma Shri twice. Jaya Bachchan took one home too and now the legacy continues with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walking away with one.

Poor Abhishek Bachchan is the only one remaining who hasn’t won. Abhishek Bachchan was not present beside his wife when she received the award. He was shooting in Orcha near Jhansi, but he did send her a beautiful bouquet of flowers, as did her father-in-law. Aww… that’s so sweet! Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was thrilled to get a Padma Shri. ‘The award is very special to the family and I'm humbled to receive such high honor from the country,’ Aishwarya Rai Bachchan told sources. Others who were honored with the Padma Shri were Akshay Kumar, Udit Narayan, Kumar Shanu, Penaz Masani, Helen, and Hridaynath Mangeshkar.

It's pretty cool that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was able to carry on her family legacy but should her talent really be recognized? I mean she is a good actress but are there others who are more worthy of it? What do our readers think about her win? Do you think that she is worthy or do you think another Bollywood actress would have been a better recipient? Let us know what you think about the win.
