Ash inspire american fashion

President Barack Obama may well be the most famous person born in an Ox year. He is joined by a host of celebrities like the handsome George Clooney and the lovely Bollywood star Aishhwarya Rai.
Aishwarya Rai was born in India in 1973. Graced with ethnic beauty, charm and suaveness, she catapulted on the world stage when she won Miss World in 1994.

India has experienced an economic boom in the past few years. As the middle class expands in India and the Indian communities grow larger in the US, traditional Indian dress influences American fashion.

From nose rings to tunics to saris to golden bangles ~ all are becoming more common in pop culture and New York runways. I have been wearing all these for years...except for a sari. I do have beautiful green one ~ I just haven't found an appropriate place to wear it yet.
Looking for Bollywoodesque fashion? Start on the web if you like or better yet venture into Indian boutiques in a Indian neighborhood. Richmond Hill in Queens has a large Indo-Caribbean population. They were descendants of indentured servants brought over in the 19th century from India by the British. Flushing and Jackson Heights (both also in Queens) are also large more traditional Indian communities.
