MUMBAI: Ten Bollywood actors and actress - Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Hrihtik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty – have received special FICCI IIFA awards for being the most powerful entertainers of the decade.
The FICCI-IIFA awards were given away at the tenth Anniversary of FICCI Frames.
Additionally, the FICCI-USIBC (US-India Business Council) award was presented to Hollywood actor and social activist, Danny Glover and to Congressman John Lewis.
Actor, producer and humanitarian Danny Glover – who has enjoyed presence on screen, stage and television for more than 25 years – featured in films like Lethal Weapon. Internationally, Glover has served as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Development Program from 1998-2004, focusing on issues of poverty, disease, and economic development in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. He is currently serving as UNICEF Ambassador.
Glover had recently told indiantelevision.com in an interview that he is planning to make two films featuring Indians: one is about the Madhya Pradesh artist who mysteriously committed suicide in Japan, and the other is about the ace cameraman who first apprised the world with the Ethiopian famine.
John Lewis has dedicated his life to protecting human rights, securing civil liberties, and building what he calls ‘The beloved community’ in America.
